1. Right-click the taskbar, and then click Task Manager .

2. In Task Manager , click the Processes tab to see a list of running processes.

3. Select the process that you want to stop.

I have Antivirus 2009 installed by someone who borrowed my laptop and now it won’t go away. I ended the process and deleted all visual evidence of it, yet EVERY time I open IE the first thing I see is “the webpage has been blocked by Antivirus 2009,Update to protect yourself.” How do I get this crap of my computer!?!?!!!!!

  • CIndy says:

Hi I too am not sure of what to delete in the task manager, under the processes tab, there is a list of items under the “image name” none of which say the words: “Virus Heat” so if you could let me know which one it is that I delete, I would be ever so happy! Not to mention I would be able to get rid of the blastard popup!

  • deane says:

it wont let me go to the task manager
says i dont hav one since it got deleted!
    :(

  • Kailey says:

Go into control panel, Help and support center, “Task Manager” And look at number 1 under Microsoft Knowledge Base. And follow those intructions.
You can then close the Virus Heat Application.
Or just run Regeit HKEY_CURENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Policies/System and set the Value data to 0. If you can’t get it to show up after F3′ing it, just follow the path.

Click the icon to get rid of unwanted spyware by downloading an up-to-date antispyware solution.

I have Norton Internet Security on my computer and I do not have a virus.

  • dalila says:

hey!peopole can you please help me…when I click on add and remove programs my computer is restarting…and I cant remove this fucking virus heat…:(

  • Duda says:

“End Task” is a nice suggestion, but I’d like to know which one on the list is “virus heat”. The name doesn’t appear, there are just combinations of letters, and I can’t be sure I will really try to stop IT, not some important running program. :(

  • Sue says:

Using Task Manager to stop unwanted processes is only possible if it hasn’t been disabled by the malware/trojan in the first place.

Newer versions of unwanted adware get control of the start up options – disable Task Manager, set the desktop to a default which cannot be removed, and install popups from inside Windows itself.

All I get even when I use alt /control /delete is “Task Manager has been disabled by your Administrator”. So how do I fix that manually?

  • Andrew says:

I got this trogan and could fix it so i hit a restore point and now my IE will not open some pages giving me a message saying internet expoler cannot open web page the URL and operation aborted, did the restore remove the spyware? or did i screw it up even more?

    Andrew
