Spyware.IEMonster is a recent web browser hijacker that pushes the XPAntivirus Rogue program onto computer users through it’s devious tactics. Spyware.IEMonster, also known as Spyware.IEMonster.b, may create many shortcuts to BDSM galleries and uncensored porn which are virtually impossible to remove.

Spyware.IEMonster pops up a fake security notification from the system tray that states the following:

“WINDOWS ALERT:Critical Systems Warning!
Your system is probably infected with version of Spyware.IEMonster.b Spyware.IEMonster.b is spyware that attempts to steal passwords from Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox Outlook and other programs, including logings and passwords from online baking sessions,EBay, PayPal. It may also create special tracking files to log your activity and compromise your Internet privacy. Spyware.IEMonster then sends stolen passwords and other sensitive information to a php script at a pre specified website where stolen details are logged Click here to protect your computer (recommended) ok or cancel.”

This message, if clicked on, will redirect your web browser to a malicious web page that promotes the download of XPAntivirus. Spyware.IEMonster

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Spyware.IEMonster

9. Delete all of the following files that are associated with Spyware.IEMonster from your computer.

   Spyware.IEMonster.exe
   Spyware.IEMonster.lnk
   Spyware.IEMonster.dll

   If you have issues deleting any of the previously listed files that are associated with Spyware.IEMonster, you can try rebooting your computer into safe mode. 10. After locating and deleting the previous files you must remove all directories associated with Spyware.IEMonster by going to the C:\ProgramFiles\Spyware.IEMonster folder, select it, and delete it. In some cases you may not be able to find this directory. You can still continue to the next step.

11. Restart your computer. You do not need to boot into safe mode at this point. You should have removed Spyware.IEMonster completely from your computer. If you find that Spyware.IEMonster is still on your computer, you can repeat the steps again or go to the automatic Spyware.IEMonster removal process.

3. After booting into safe mode, double-click on the SmitfraudFix.exe icon that should be located on your desktop. Follow the on-screen instructions. Option number 2 should be selected once the program starts.

4. After SmitfraudFix performs the initial removal processes it will ask you “Do you want to clean the registry?” Select Y for yes.

5. Once SmitfraudFix has finished the registry clean you can restart your computer now.
6. Spyware.IEMonster should be removed from your computer. If not, you can start the automatic removal process over. It may take more than one try in some rare cases.

There’s no guarantee that SmitfraudFix will remove all files due to the complex nature of new spyware files that are ever-changing. If necessary, you may need to get help from a person who knows about computer and spyware.
