Windows Vista is suppose to be a newer version of Windows that looks better, performs better and is more secure than older consumer versions such as Windows XP. When it comes to hackers attacking the Vista operating system it was discovered that it has it’s share of vulnerabilities.

Ben Hawkes, a New Zealand security researcher, has discovered hacking methods where Vista is compromised in certain ways through the Vista heap. The Vista heap is a dynamic memory management component that is used by all applications on Windows Vista. From there it was found that there is a type of memory corruption bug within the applications allowing malicious code to be run opening a outlet for hackers to attack Vista systems.

Microsoft has always been on top of the security vulnerabilities once they are discovered. Many times it may be too late for some consumers when a vulnerability is discovered within the ever-so-popular family of Windows operating systems. Hawkes’ research is very interesting as Microsoft is interested in his findings for the recent discovered vulnerability in Vista. Microsoft has already been trying to prevent attacks through memory corruption but Hawkes research will defiantly help them to get to where they need to be on this issue.
