January 29, 2018

GandCrab Ransomware is a tool and a malicious form of software that hackers may utilize to extort money from computer users. The process that GandCrab Ransomware uses to extort money is one that's rather familiar due to a long lineage of ransomware threats that have come beforehand, which are designed to lock down a PC through file encryption and then demand payment to supposedly restore those same files.

IN the case of GandCrab Ransomware it will cause serious system damage through file encryption just before offering a process to decrypt the files through a bitcoin payment, which is no guarantee to restore the files. PC users who choose to pay the ransom take a risk of not getting the proper decryption code for restoring the files. Instead of taking such a risk, PC users victimized by GandCrab Ransomware will want to first eliminate GandCrab Ransomware using an antimalware program and then seek a system backup to restore all files to their original state.
