What is Windows Registry?

The Windows registry contains configuration settings and operating system components together with information on other installed applications, and all of if is kept in a hierarchical order. Therefore, it is without a doubt that all of the data included in the Windows registry is vital for the normal work of Windows and other programs.

Because the registry is in charge of settings for Windows, software, hardware, and the user account, it uses numerous registry keys, which are like folders, and registry values, which are the files in these folders, to control the Windows operating system. Even if a program is removed, the files which correspond to it in the Registry are not removed. This is the reason why over time the registry collects a large number of unnecessary entries that neither are used nor are needed any more. Consequently, these unnecessary registry entries or errors will eventually cause system instability, slow computer performance and computer crashes. Recommended Shortcut: To clean your Windows registry, you should use a registry cleaner to restore your PC to its peak performance. A clear sign of a registry error can be when an error message pops up when attempting to open a program.

The idea of scanning for malware should be the #1 thing to do and first thing that you do. Most times registry corruption and errors stem from malware. I found it very hard to remove malware entries but not impossible. The trick is, finding out who the makers of the malware is. Usually this will help you find more of the registry folders associated with the malware so you can delete it. But also, be very very cautions when deleting registry stuff. I edited my registry without backing up and when I delete some entries and edited others, I restarted and it would not fully boot up due to the system not reaching dll files. Had to do a full Windows restore. Just some advise you can take from me to save your ass some time from re installing Windows… not fun!
